I want to thank you and the entire staff for the excellent service we recently received from Tired Iron. Though the
work required to repair my daughter’s car was relatively minor, you and your staff treated us like a high value customer throughout the process. Your suggestion to sample paint, order the rear bumper (and paint) prior to us dropping off the car was great. The repairs were completed in a few hours vs. a few days, eliminating the need for a rental car. With regard to the workmanship, we are very happy with the results and also appreciative of the additional detailing and cleaning that was provided. This was my first experience with Tired Iron and though I’m hoping I don't require your services in the near future, you can rest assured you have my families business going forward.
Great Work!

Tired Iron buys Blacksmith's Auto Body, relocates
Clint Riese,Staff Writer Wednesday, 29 December 2010

Two of Forest Lake’s oldest body shops have struck a deal after decades of competing against each other. Tired Iron Collision Center began operating this month out of the former Blacksmith’s Auto Body shop after the sale of the building on Forest Boulevard this fall. Combined, the businesses have served the area for 78 years.

For Tired Iron owner Scott Rangitsch, the opportunity was too good to pass up.

“We just wanted to get [Tired Iron] bigger,” he said. “It was an opportunity to do more volume.”

Tired Iron kept its regular schedule while moving from its leased space at 508 SW 15th St. Rangitsch had no pressing urge to relocate, but figured he should do his due diligence when he heard Blacksmith’s owner Jim Suchan was retiring.

“I wasn’t even real serious about it until all of a sudden I decided maybe it isn’t a bad idea to look and see what it was,” he said.

What Rangitsch ended up with is ownership of his own building, which at 12,000 square feet nearly doubles the room he has to work. He also stands to inherit much of Blacksmith’s customer base.

“We combined them together and are pretty much going to service the people the same way,” he said.

The increase in room and work volume allows Tired Iron to grow its staff from three to five.

The shop will continue to specialize in body and frame work, restorations, paint jobs, glass replacement and RV repair.

Tired Iron Collision Center is located at 21438 Forest Blvd. N. The shop can be reached at 464-4540 or It is open from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and by appointment on the weekend.
